Essential Workers Easter Parade In The Town Of Shelburne: Community Support Facing The Coronavirus

Above is Shelburne Legion, Branch 220 President, Lesa Peat. When Peat noticed activity over social media indicating there would be a street parade of Shelburne Essential Workers on Easter Friday, she immediately thought she could also participate in the parade by dressing up waving from her door as the workers drove by. While so many aspects in our daily lives have been altered, perhaps irrevocably, some things will never change, like the wonderful people of Shelburne and this parade was a very clear indication of that.

According to Peat, there were many participants commenting, “At least 50 Shelburnites, 4 police, Mulmur Fire, 1 Shelburne Fire pick up, 2 ambulances, 2 transport ambulances, and Country 105. I lost count for the tears.” Many Shelburnites expressed the joy and gratitude experienced, also shedding a tear of joy and shared sentiment of solidarity while facing the Corona Virus.

As our streets have been pretty quiet, our essential workers really reached out to the the community, boosting moral and definitely letting our community know, they are not alone on this Easter Friday. Even as isolated as the virus can make us feel, our essential workers and community members let everyone know we are in this together and we are not alone. How great is that!
